Waka Waka 3D
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Waka is trapped in a maze he can no longer see.
WakaWaka 3D is a first- and third-person maze chase built entirely from simple shapes. Losing the overhead view is what makes it a different game — and what gives you back your bearings is a 2D minimap and spatial audio that never lies.
The sound never lies
Each ghost hums on its own frequency. Loudness follows the distance along the corridors, not the straight line through the wall — a ghost behind a partition is far, and sounds far. Direction stays true, so you hear "that way, but a long way round". A low-pass filter tells you a wall is in between; a second one tells you it is behind you.
Nothing is random
No dice anywhere in the game logic. The four ghosts are entirely predictable, and that is what makes mastery possible — and death fair. Frightened ghosts flee by an inverted rule rather than wandering at random.
Almost everything is code
The bodies, the fruit, the character's face, the map silhouettes, the icon and every sound in the maze are generated by the program, sample by sample. Nothing was drawn or recorded.
